Care Instructions

Velum pieces are made to be worn often and to last. Treat each fabric on its own terms.

Wool & tailored pieces

Coats, blazers, structured pants and skirts. Dry-clean only. Brush gently after wear to lift dust and restore the nap. Store on a wide hanger, away from direct sunlight, and let the piece rest at least a day between wears.

Leather & suede

Jackets, outerwear, shorts and trims. Wipe clean with a dry cloth after wear. Condition every few months with a dedicated leather balm, and keep leather away from direct heat, prolonged sun, and water. Brush suede lightly with a suede brush. Store on a padded hanger with room to breathe.

Cotton & jersey

Shirts, tops, sweatshirts, hoodies and lighter dresses. Machine-wash cold, inside out, on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry — avoid the tumble dryer, which shortens the life of the weave. Iron on a low setting if needed, while still slightly damp.

Knitwear

Turtlenecks and sweaters. Hand-wash cold or use a wool cycle, then reshape and dry flat, never hung. Store folded to hold the shape. Depill gently by hand.

Denim

Jeans, denim shirts and washed-indigo pieces. Wash cold and inside out, sparingly — denim holds its shape with fewer washes. Hang to dry rather than tumble-drying, which fades color and weakens fiber.

Silk & delicate tops

Silk tops, slip and sheer pieces. Hand-wash cold with a mild detergent or dry-clean. Do not wring; press water out gently and dry flat away from direct heat.

Dresses

Follow the care of the dominant fabric: dry-clean wool and tailored dresses; machine-wash cotton dresses cold and lay flat to dry; treat silk and sheer dresses as delicates.

General

Reshape garments while still damp, and let each piece rest between wears rather than wearing it twice in a row. Spot-clean where possible before a full wash or dry-clean — it extends the life of every fabric we use.
